How did I get there? The metro and my tootsies! I met Kresse Wesling many moons ago. She was already one year into her fire hose collection. I was styling a fashion show in Portabello for the launch of singer songwriter Jarvis Smith - Kresse featured on the catwalk. At that time, the issue was material stock. Now she gets all the decommissioned British fire hoses and is looking to the Danish and French brigades as they have totally different colours.
The company has come a long way, which is testament to her focus, fortitude and flipping hard work.
I have always been surprised by the quality of the craftsmanship. We are talking fire hose piping, after all. It's tough, hard and difficult work. So, I guess a five-month collaboration with Bill Amberg, the iconic British leather brand whose use of vegetable dyes on over 90% of the whole range and whose design, aesthetic and knowledge is loved worldwide, comes as no surprise!
The five-month collaboration resulted in an exchange of ideas that gave birth to The Tooley Tote in June at Pitti Uomo - proudly named after the street where London's first fire brigade was founded. Bill Amber
