Africa-inspired - Mara Hoffman FALL 2014, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, New York

Watching Mara Hoffman's show was like reliving the colour and feel of Northern Africa. That was the inspiration for her Fall 2014 collection. I could almost feel and hear the strong rhythmic beat prevalent in North African music as the models stomped down the catwalk.

20140211-073813.jpg The mirages came though in the form of the pyramid sequin gowns - as you do when you arrive from the desert into the little glittering palm-fringed oases that offer a cool and deserved respite from the blaze of a day of sun.

Hoffman is renown for her prints of which the colours and patterns were really splendid, echoing the landscapes, art and textiles of Northern Africa.
