ART INSPIRED: Dennis Basso FW2014, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, New York

Seeing a full blown canvas walking towards you is a pretty surreal feeling, but Dennis Basso's FW2014 collection in New York was very much that: walking art. Inspired by the great American contemporary artists, and utilising vibrant jewel tones, the collection oozed LUXURY and awe! 20140226-161444.jpg

Hand-painted Duchess satin on voluminous ball gowns with fitted bodices left me pretty speechless, but when I saw the slim leg trousers, that's where I stopped myself short.

I have never seen anything quite so rich before. The gold encrusted corset with Bordeaux brushstroke trouser is as regal as you can get. Though, I guess with red carpet royalty in the front row like June Ambrose, Mary J. Blige, Sarah Rafferty, Giuliana Rancic, Debra Messing, Olivia Palermo and Katie Cassidy, you sort of get an idea of who the collection is aimed at.

Personally, on a more low key European style note, I can see myself rocking a pair of these somewhere Après ski, with a Campari spritz of course!

Santé biensur!
