LC:M - James long - distressed denim

A biker jacket is never JUST a jacket with James Long, but rather a juxtaposition of glamour and life on the edge. This concept is the focus of the designer’s Autumn/Winter 2015 collection, which elevates the functionality of the clothes, pushing menswear beyond utility into more decorative aesthetic territories.

IMG_7650.JPG The collection sees a return to the oversized-collared sheepskin combat jackets of earlier James Long designs, and also makes a pointed nod at the current trend for casual biker chic. A recurrent use of distressed denim highlights how the collection plays with form and function, with larger than average pockets used to exaggerate the function detail and decoration.

IMG_7651.JPG Weaving in a modern take on the baroque era, Long also uses lace – a material rarely seen in menswear – to embellish jackets and herringbone jerseys.
