Alexandra Tamele’s African upbringing clearly shines through the pieces that make up her vibrant and fresh Spring / Summer 2016 collection that was put on show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin this last week. Born in Berlin, Tamele’s background is from Mozambique – she uses both of these inspirations in her young, funky and highly wearable collection with both confidence and convinction.
The relaxed, oversized designs bring back the 80’s idea of sporty chic with the fluid cuts and loose shapes. The colour selection is very reminiscent of the earthy African camels and beiges, interspersed with some pops of bright oranges, reds and yellows that reflect the setting sun.
Her signature wild cat logo can be seen on a couple of the baggy ready-to-wear tops and her Tamele name is proudly emblazoned on the jumpers and tracksuits. The material is beautifully fluent, lending itself to the clean cuts and loose fits with a couple of pieces using stunning traditional African fabrics.
