Known for her extravagant creations and exciting mix of materials, Rebekka Ruetz did not disappoint in her "A TOUCH OF FRIDA" Spring / Summer 2016 collection at Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week Berlin.
As the name suggests her main inspiration was the vibrant and eccentric Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, and in true Frida spirit, Ruetz’s models stomped down the catwalk in bright tropical colours like mauve, papaya, orange and grenadine pink and signature floral crowns. Thankfully a beautiful bird print (totally in love with it ) saved the day from going into Frida Kahlo overkill
Successfully merging a fresh and feminine feel with a strong undertone of unconventionality and modern beauty, a number of the dresses are adorned with enlarged and hyper real floral prints while the synthesis of high-quality imitation leather with transparent panels of airy mesh fabrics makes for a strong summer look.
Largely made up of dresses and skirts with tops, and some oversized palazzo pants the collection favours looser flowing fits and box-shapes with straight cuts. In some of the looks Ruetz clinches waists and creates girlish silhouettes with oversized belts.
