And what drama! Opera & theatre ! A tension between tailoring and fluidity which seemed effortless but certainly palpable . Absolutely brilliant and totally wearable...... Poetic and mysteriously seductive were the overtones of the stunning new Spring/Summer 2016 ‘Tears for the Impatient’ collection by Esther Perbandt at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.
The dark collection predominantly uses the simple non-colours black and white, and every varying shade thereof -
A Berliner by birth Perbandt also spent formative years in Moscow and Paris which influenced her signature style. Here it is her own impatience that shows through in this collection which plays on her idea of instant time and the concept of slowness. The Catwalk itself was divided into 3 acts like a play... performed by models, acting.
There is a feeling of the dramatic and the modern in the elongated and exaggerated cuts and fits, but it is the use of material and the traditional tailoring that tie the collection together emphasising the craftsmanship. Fabulous blouses worn by men and women, jumpsuits to die for .. men/women ..... almost unisex but without making it the main statement, brilliant!!!!
