New York Fashion Week is always a great opportunity to see styles and cultures inspired from all four corners of the globe and internationally acclaimed fashion designer Malan Breton’s Spring Summer Collection 2016 is no different. I have been following this designer, who works silk like no other, for a couple of years now. His colour combinations are a dream.... and I am still lusting after getting myself one his menswear silk pant suits!!!!!
Inspired by a recent trip to Taiwan, Breton’s ‘Reflections of Sun Moon Lake’ collection for men and women uses traditional materials and techniques from the fascinating Asian country in combination with the designer’s strong background in visual arts and drawing. Juxtaposing tradition with contemporary fashion trends, Breton has incorporated embroideries, silks, fibers and dying techniques from Taiwan together with western cuts and silhouettes.
True to Malans' eclectic taste the show was held at Gotham Hall ( the 1920's master piece), pretty spectacular..and packed. Models walked the runway to live music and wore some pretty cool tattoos by Black Lace Skin Jewellery ( check the marvel snake one ). His final silk piece will be auctioned at NYFW wrap party in aid of Sound Affects, the cancer charity.
