Sometimes I wear my heart on my sleeve, sometimes its so hidden you can't even see it, but sometimes it's in a roaring flame... Francesca Liberatore took us through its emotional paces...
The multiple facets of the human heart were the inspiration behind Francesca Liberatore’s stunning Spring Summer 2016 collection at New York Fashion Week this season.
And with the heart being capable of so many emotions from Hate to Love, Jealousy to Obsession and Desire to Devotion and Possession, the show was definitely an interesting and varied one.
Liberatore uses fabrics, techniques, cuts and colour to explore and bring out a bold and honest expression of the nature of the human heart. Rich and real colours such as bright oranges, bold pinks and reds blend seamlessly with black and white, while a multitude of sparkling Swarovski crystals shine and radiate throughout the collection.
The cuts and silhouettes are soft and fluid thanks to Liberatore’s genius use of silk, chiffon and tulle, and we are reminded of the predominant heart motif through the hand-drawn and skilfully embroidered heart shapes. A more masculine shape is found in some of the lapels and waistlines.
