In a world where gender is becoming increasingly fluid and stereotyping based on sex is more and more frowned upon, Candyatom’s genderless streetwear designs for men, women, boys, girls and aliens, is as on trend as it gets.
Asking wearers to be neither boys, nor girls but a mix of whatever they desire, the LCM presentation featured men and women on the catwalk, with male models in pastel toned skirts, long tee shirt dresses and skirts over trousers and female models in androgynous shift dresses and trousers and tshirt combos.
Inspired by the Japanese folklore of the Youkai demon spirit, and keeping in line with the brand’s “Street wear from space” concept, many of the pieces feature alien or eyeless doll face prints, along with gender rebellious slogans such as “I have made a new world with no boys and no girls”
Not just shouting about gender fluidity, but supporting it, proceeds from the show will go to Bloomsbury Central Baptist Church which supports the LGBT community,same-sex marriage and a residential centre for LGBT individuals in Albania.
