Pedro Palmas is one of those designers you can tell really loves women he designs keeping in mind all those niggling issues that woman have. Does my bottom look too big? Does it look too flat ? Then with a cut here a seam there the issues dissipate ! No wonder he is one of the Canary Islands most beloved designers. It's always a pleasure meeting up with him because he knows how much I like dressing up and he spoils me to heaven by allowing me to try everything in his atelier .. it's glorious !!
Like Tom Ford, who he admires, Palmas agrees with presenting the collections just as they hit the stores . A desicion he revealed at Moda Calida Bridal in March earlier this year . His swimwear collection is the only part of his label that he works traditionally and through wholesale.
Working now on the collection for Costura España 2017 where he will be showing more than a full 35 pieces ...is what is exciting him at the moment. There's a whisper that inspiration is coming from the east. Of course I have been sworn to secrecy all I know is I am going to be in Madrid when that collection is shown and before Vogue & Hola publish the images. Since each piece on the catwalk is a unique piece and not repeated it's a first come first serve situation and I want to make sure I get my favourite.
High from the excitment of trying everything on I only managed to ask the one question
Have you got a specific woman in mind when you design? Is there any particular woman you would like to see in your collection?
I love designing for all kinds of women, I try and work the collections so that it reaches women who are sensual, elegant, daring and very feminine . Women to whom dressing is a way of expressing themselves especially wearing clothes that they enjoy and changes them from their ordinary day to day, since in the end they are the ones that make the collection triumph and a creation transcend.
