Whenever I travel, I always have one eye trained to watch out for a destination’s best vintage treasure troves. These are always the places where one can uncover the top vintage fashions and style gems just waiting to be re-loved and meeting the interesting people that run them.
On a recent trip to the stunning Portuguese city of Porto, while stopping for a quick coffee in Praça dos Poveiros, I stumbled upon MĀO ESQUERDA – a wonderfully curated vintage shop run by a lovely Portuguese lady with a great eye for a catch.
The collection included the vintage staples which just keep coming back in fashion, such as shirts with loud geometric prints in neon colours, and black leather jackets with 60’s fringing. I bought a beautiful pussy bow collar shirt in a dusky turquoise, ochre and dusty pink floral print from Chez Elle boutique. And I must say I was tempted by many more of the eclectic pieces on sale.
The shop also has a fab collection of statement sunglasses in bright pinks and blues; handbags in white and black leather and hats, hats, hats galore!
Check it out at Rua de Santo André (aosPoveiros), 26, 4000-382 Porto
