So, I’m in Madrid at the moment to pick up a prestigious Dedal De Oro for Studio54Tenerife’s contribution to the fashion industry. But what to do on a freezing day in Madrid before hitting the red carpet?
Luckily for me, my amazing new friend Carmen, just happens to own the five uber hip Harina boutique cafés. These famous little cafés are the perfect place for a pit stop to refuel with something that's naughtybutseriously healthy at the same time!
Everything is made on the premises under Carmen’swatchful eye without any additives or colouring. This women is seriously passionate about baking!
Now I am not a big eater, but carrot cake with spelt pastry is a serious temptationwhich I of course succumb to, and I’m glad I did because it’s too delicious for words! My curiosity is also spiked by the dark beer cake which is totally dark, gothic, Victorian and surreal! So fashion!
Of course, the Harina cafés are not just exceptional breakfast hot spots, they also serve a mouth-watering brunch every day of the week and for the night owls, there are cocktails in the evenings. The particular Harina where I spent an indulgent morning is also the most perfect place for meetings thanks to the free WiFi, the light airy space and the tempting array of goodies from healthy fruit shakesto quiche or pizzamade for you on the spot!
