I fell in love with Antonio Marras a couple of seasons ago when I saw part of his collection at Feathers boutique London,( theyre still the largest stockist of his collection in the UK & have the best selection ). Marras pays incredible attention to detail which he infuses with traditional handicraft. Isola Marras started off as his second line although it's developed its own identity and with many followers, including ME!!!
Dedicated to the muse of the Russian avant-gardeartists and poets LilijaBrik, theI'm IsolaMarras Fall Winter 2016/17 collection is uniquely eclectic and exudes an other-worldly charm of days gone by.
Lilija was an icon of style, a charismatic femme fatale with a weakness for fashion, and this eccentric vibrantly coloured collection merges her multi-faceted style with a more modern aesthetic.
Using an unusual and bright colour palette of saffron yellows, aubergines, mauves and rich blues, the collection focuses on geometric, floral and linearprint designs as a means of expressing the abstract elements of the clothes, while dynamic forms are created using layering, simple lines, embroidery, ruffles, patchwork and colourful ribbon.
The fabrics are textural and atmospheric with fur stoles, lace pleated skirts, silk head scarves and woollen collars working together to create a folklore-like, quaint atmosphere of old-school feminine chic – Russian style!
