I always get rather panicky before I travel & on the eve of my trip to Greece for clients I even feel ill. Perhaps that’s because I’m never just going from home to only one other country, it’s never a straight forward trip, but rather a journey to at least three countries on the trot. This mean I am sometimes planning outfits for drastically different weather. Should I pack too much or too little. I hate the possibility of carrying pieces I won't wear. All in all, though it's the excitement and anticipation that gets me each time!
Which is silly really because I always have a plan.
I have years of packing different types of luggage and I have finally decided that one medium and one small carry on wheelie-bag is best. Odd as it may sound, I can manoeuvre better and be more self-sufficient when I travel with this duo of totally non discript brown lightweight Samsonites.
I divide my packing into four sub categories
1. Wash bag
3. Clothing - underwear - sleepwear - shoes & accessories - bits and bobs for different looks.
4. Hand luggage
I try not to wear boots when I travel because I hate taking them off at the security controls, although invariably I do anyway as they eat too much rooms in the case. I travel au-natural because all that mess with cosmetics in plastic bags is so annoying and best avoided! Besides there seems to be a Kiehl's boutique at all duty frees so I usually treat myself to one of their amazing moisturisers which I smother myself in totally before the flight.
Carrying my laptop is another no-no as I've managed to lose two already and so for entertainment, I just use my iPhone 6 Plus with plenty of films downloaded and maybe a magazine picked up post passport control. And I'm ready for work and adventure.
