I am sure it's not me being compulsive or bordering on a having adisorder which propels me into shops in the search of a new brand, but more my enthusiasm for creativity, or simply a quest fora fantastic shopping experience. I also share the same love for restaurants and hotels.
Whilst in Madrid I managed to clock in a couple of new finds.
Bakari is one of those bright airy spaces where all the products are beautifully displayed. Specialising in bags designed with a conscious effort to be planet friendly, the bags use wood for their gorgeous clutches which is forest certified, and the leathers are mostly coloured using vegetable dye. The whole collection is made, designed and manufactured in Spain and knowledgeable staff are on hand to explain everything, from the concept to the execution. The area itself has many small boutiques, so it's worth taking the time to stroll around.
Kilombo Vintage is an owner run boutique. Its decor has something reminiscent of a parlour –it must be because of the wood and the lighting,as the products are certainly not of the era. Specialising in pieces from the 60's and upwards, they have mostly Spanish brands and the collection includes some accessories. The owner really does know her stock and will rummage around and take things down from shelves and off mannequins to find the perfect piece. If you happen to find yourself in Madrid for a bit, she is also a skilled seamstress whois happy to customise your buy to better suit your figure.
