With The menswear shows for SS17 finished across all of the major fashion capitals of world, the time has come to take stock and recollect the trends of the season.
I certainly liked the North African/Middle Eastern vibe that was coming through in a number of the collections worldwide. In fact,Samir Bakir and Emma Hedlunds – the designers behind CMMN SWDN –took the inspiration for their SS17 collection at LCM, directly from a trip to Morocco. Burnt yellows, dusky pinks, ochre and ash were used across the collection, like divine memories of exotic markets and the majestic Atlas Mountains.
I loved so much of CMMN SWDN’s SS17 collection, that it's hard to choose my favourite pieces. There were the above ankle length high-waisted leather trousers in red and black for one; the string vests in orange, blue, white and red were so vintage, cool and perfect now; and of course the wide lapelled leather biker jackets. Even the cargo style pants (which I normally hate ) were pin striped; and the side pockets were tailored worked so well they looked almost city wearable. But then that is what makes CMMN SWDN’s fabulously wearable cloths, so easy and smart.
