Faustine Steinmetz - denim hours
Speaking about her personal style and unique methods, Steinmetz said: “I create pieces that everyone has or has had in their wardrobe at some point in their life, except I make them from scratch using artisanal techniques.”

Faustine Steinmetz - working denim
With a focus on sustainable, or ‘slow’ fashion, Steinmetzexplores our contemporary relationship with buying cheap, disposable clothing. Instead of mass producing thousands of cheap pieces, Steinmetz spends many hours meticulously and lovingly working on each of her designs – the result is a more sustainable, less wasteful collection of gorgeous artisan denim pieces.

“I work hours on them because I want to add value where normally very little value is seen. Why should a pair of denim that you wear everyday not be given the same level of attention as a couture dress, destined to only ever be worn once?” said Steinmetz of the concept behind her slow denim creations.

And whatever her ideals, values and sustainable morals, Steinmetz’s beautiful denim pieces have become coveted and famous in the industry, making her a cult name on the scene. She deserves it as the fab exhibition shows!
