Vintage Treasure 24July
Long gone are the days when, while abroad looking for Wi-Fi I'd pop into McDonald’s and scour the menu hunting for something that I could consider consuming just in order to have a few precious moments of connection, even though I gave up their food a long time ago.
Nowadays, although McDonald’s do healthier options such as salads, there are so many more options available for a Wi-Fi seeking public faced with a world on non-connectivity. Starbucks for example have Wi-Fi, and they make a delicious chai latte.
Re visiting McDonald’s recently, after an absence spanning at least a decade, it was like entering a new world, and in the oppressive 40-degree heat, sheltering in their amazing air conditioning was like paradise.
When it's hot outside, I’ve got to wear a dress, and one that is as loose as possible. This is an old 50's favourite of mine. It’s what I’d call vintage a fond d' armoire – something extremely comfortable that gets brought out and mixed with whatever I am in the mood for. It has a splashed Pollock-style pattern, which I have been drawn to recently, after connecting with Artistix at men's fashion week New York. Here I am wearing it with a Jean Paul Gaultier top, easy slip on Melissa shoes and my pop watch, which keeps me from grabbing my iPhone to check how I am doing for time.
