It's inevitable that at some time in your life, you will end up in a hospital, if not for yourself, then for someone that's truly beloved to you. I always try to look at the bright side in these situations, so at hospital recently I started checking out the fashions!
The nurse’s uniforms reminded of one of my truly loved but almost forgotten pieces – the 'boiler suit'. Of course I've lusted over one of Donna Karan’s 1980s numbers, but this one which is from Katharine Hamnett is probably more me.
Made from heavy industrial cotton, it's a wee bit thick for summer, but I always wear it with a small and light top so I can take off the top half and bear all!
In this case a rather cool crochet bikini halter by a local artisan in Arona – Fide is perfect! In the 1980's Hamnett heavily favoured designs inspired by either work clothes or military gear, such as fatigues and battle jackets. This khaki piece is a classic!
