Peter Jensen’s SS17 collection is inspired by the eccentric character and famously green fingers of Lady Rhoda Birley.
The aristocrat and successful artist was known for her beauty, but also for her unique sense of style and unashamed eccentricity. She was also an ardent gardener and apparently served lobster to her roses, which is why we see lobster prints recurring in Jensen’s collection.
In true Lady Birley style, the collection pairs fabulous pieces with more practical wear, like the shirt that is turned into a dress by incorporating a huge frill.
There is a distinct air of English countryside about the collection, with prints featuring rolling hills dotted with sheep, ginghams and tulle embroidered with flowers.
Lady Birley loved scarves and as such the collection features a number of printed scarves and straw headpieces.
