I got this gorgeous dress on an impulse in Paris, although I’m not sure it can really be considered impulse,if the dress is in my favourite colour, in my exact size and by one of my favourite designers. It’s almost as if I'd ordered it direct.
The dress is from Andre Courreges’‘Hyperbole’ line - which was one of the two ready-to-wear lines he introduced in the late 1960's. I do have quite a few glorious pieces from around the same time, but this dress is numbered, so it probably dates from the 1970's.
I am sure that originally it must have come with a belt, but unfortunately it must have got lost over the years and I don't have it.
I was walking through Chelsea Barracks in London with a friend one day when I spotted Mary Quants gorgeous boutique, which brought to mind the fabulous tights she stocked . With that inspiration in mind I've teamed the look here with something similar from Pamela Mann. I do have a selection of Mary Quant pink fish-nets and pink flower tights, untouched and still in their sleeves, but madly enough I just can’t bring myself to break open the packet. The shoes are sparkly and probably from a much earlier period, but I love them and they're so comfortable. I love pink lace, so I added a Sportsmax pussy bow blouse underneath, to make my arms look pretty.
Sitting on the floor of a stylish New York loft just adds that finishing touch!
