A great new discovery for me for FW17 was Malibu 1992. The fact that the brand from inception has been using faux fur is to be lauded..
With a background so heavily influenced by the music industry, it is no wonder that the Malibu 1992 autumn winter 2017 collection has such an urban, streetwear feel, so deeply rooted in the clubbing scene.
Head designer Dorian Stefano Tarantini paid a fashionable homage to the iconic Cocorico club in Italy in his dynamic, youthful and futuristic collection. And as the club was a regular haunt for fashionistas and celebrities such as Jean Paul Gautier and Claude Montana, there is of course, that touch of luxury, that the Malibu 1992 brand is famous for.
The collection has an augmented reality feel to it, transforming practical pieces into formal garment and using a varied and interesting and ethical selection of materials from vegan chinchilla and vegetable python to British waxed cotton and technical wool.
Following the Cocorico theme, the club’s logo is used as design embellishment and an oversized silhouette gives a dramatic appeal.
