I love the fact that Malan’s collections include both his men and womens line they are always so intricatley linked. Of course his pant suits are the best, although he shows both in New York and London both collections are different although bound with the same sort of flavouring, for FW17 his slinkiest fish tail dresses were totally for his Red Carpet New York clientele, London though was left with something a little darker!!!
Malan Breton’s Autumn Winter 2017 collection ‘The Fantome Collection’ at London Fashion Week was inspired by the iconic Charlie Chaplin and his famous films of the 1930’s.
Featuring stunning traditionally British heritage tailoring, the collection also includes nods to the West with oriental additions such as Chinese watercolours and imperial prints, in keeping with Breton’s French, British, Italian and Taiwanese heritage.
Demi couture techniques such as hand loomed silks, wools and cashmeres emphasise the luxury elements and further reiterate the West meets East vibes.
Colour wise, the collection goes from woody browns and classic greens, to pewter and apricot tones complemented by the use of silk fabrics, brocades, cashmere, velvets and angora.
Embracing the female figure, the collection like the New York one with almost second skin-like in the liquid silhouettes and immaculate suiting details.
