Copenhagen Fashion Week is always a great place to uncover completely new fashion innovations. The Scandi’s have a real skill when it comes to design, and this is THE place to catch the very best of the best. One brand that I bumped into this year, was RUNA of Sweden, showing at The Jewellery Showroom, Runa of Sweden founded by the gorgeous Sanna Grannas, who created the brand to provide a new, more modernised, urban alternative jewellery option to the time-honoured cufflink for both men and women to enhance the look of a classic shirt.
The pieces are like a sleek take on the 1990's covered button concept and can be worn in one of the button holes of a smart shirt, in the same way a cufflink would be worn on the sleeve.
The brand name – RUNA – comes from the Nordic word meaning secret and wisdom, or a set of letters and symbols – or runes – that were used thousands of years ago, to tell a story. As such, each of thein the collection made for both men and women, has a range of diverse designs, each telling a different story.
The pieces are loud and bold, yet in true Scandinavian style, chic and minimal, with raw and simplistic designs which really make a statement. Made in the north of Sweden, the collection all reflects the vast, rugged landscape of the area, which happens to be the site of the world’s biggest land uplift after the Ice Age.
Sanna tell me about the mechanism for the button covers, are they a new design? they certainly bear no similarity to the Nonny covers big in the 90's !!
This is a new technical design.
Also, I am loving the earrings are they coming out soon ?
Yes in Spring. The earmarks (as I call them) is the same product you use on top of your shirtbutton. You just snap it onto our "everyday"-earmark, wich is the same size as a shirtbutton.
Well I certainly can't wait for those!
