I am a great of fan of Jamie Wei Huang and have watched the evolution of the label... I have the above pieces from the collection , which I loved at first sight. This FW17 collection is dare I say it, slightly softer without loosing its urban quality... with the FW18 shows around the corner ... I cant wait to see whats next..
Going back to his fashion roots at Central Saint Martins for the presentation of his AW17 collection, Jamie Wei Huang – together with Spanish digital artist Eduardo Dies Poza – has created a retrospective that looks back to the 80’s with nostalgia for the era’s youthful fun and romanticism. Indeed, even Huang’s signature pieces, such as the designs made of leather and the unique coats, has been given a more romantic swing in this collection, with flared trousers and bell sleeve tops that made me reminisce about the good old days!
The element of luxury is expertly balanced with the use of contemporary metal trimmings on more classic pieces, or blocks of metallic colour paired with more tailored items. This careful juxtaposition of fabrics ensures that the collection has a strong appeal with those who like a classic style with a contemporary twist.
Further cementing her signature style, Huang uses her usual elongated silhouettes and fearless self-expression through fabrication and materials.
