The fashion industry seems to finally be taking sustainable fashion seriously; and a true testament to this was the recent judging of The CNMI Green Carpet Talent Competition – part of the first ever Green Carpet Fashion Awards, Italia – during Haute Couture Week in Paris
The awards themselves will take place in September at La Scala during Milan Fashion Week, and will see one of the finalists win the prestigious Franca Sozzani GCC Emerging Designer of the Year Award.
The prize for this award is one any emerging designer would want – a chance to show their work at Milan Fashion Week in February 2018 and a year-long mentoring programme with Value Retail.
The judging panel – which consisted of fashion industry influencers and green fashion advocates including Livia Firth and Carlo Capasa(Chairman, CNMI) – were presented with one look created using the Green Carpet Challenge (GCC) Principles, from each of the 10 semi-finalists.
Standout looks included innovative gowns made using seashells, upcycled CDs and leather alternatives, a backpack made from recycled fishing net and classic tailoring made using natural dyes.
The CNMI Green Carpet Talent ten semi-finalists are:
Atelier Terra Urbana by Mateja Benedetti; Calcaterra byDaniele Calcaterra; Co|Te by Tomaso Anfossi and Francesco Ferrari;
EDITHMARCEL byAndrea Masato and Gianluca Ferracin; Kalyah byNora Aldamer;
LEO STUDIO DESIGN by Leo Macina; Quattromani by Massimo Noli and Nicola Frau;
SCULPTOUR byAlessandra Spada; TIZIANO GUARDINI byTiziano Guardini and VAHAN KHACHATRYAN by Vahan Khachatryan.
A difficult choice for the judges. They are all beautiful. Which one would be your choice?
