The hectic buzz that is London Fashion Week is finally over. But what did we learn from this whirlwind week and what trends should we expect for Spring Summer 2018.
First up, the colours. It seems that yellow really is the colour of choice for SS18, with catwalks bursting with bold and vibrant yellows and sunny hues.
Ports 1961 rocked the shade with pleated shirt dresses, while Molly Goddard had stunning yellow tailored jackets. Pringle too had a marvelous selection of very fine knitted pieces in a Lime Green Yellow.
Transparency was also a big hit on the runways, with the BREAST a major showcase.
The skirt length 'du jour' a mid-calf length and preferably a pencil skirt. Georgia O'Keeffe proved to be a huge influence, with at least three designers referencing her colour palette and style including Caitlin Price, Tugcan Dokmen and Edeline Lee.
And then there were the ruffles. Although ruffles were on trend last season, they were back on the catwalks for SS18, and this time they were not shy. Emerging talent Simone Rocha sent extravagant white ruffles and Victorian lace gowns down the catwalk, while Erdem featured more regal ruffles in stunning transparent green lace. Ryan Lo's show incorporated ruffles onto evening gloves.
But the ruffle trend was really epitomised by the parachuting masculine parka by Minki who transformed the ruffle into something utilitarian and almost feminine.
