Despite all the amazing bags on show during fashion month, for me, I think the most sought-afterbag had to be the Hold-All shopper totes this FW18. I’ve been on something of a mission to find the perfect bag over the past few years and while I’ve been searching, I’ve taken to carrying around a Hold-All shopper tote and it seems pretty close to perfect.
I can’t believe it was Demna Gvasalia, the creative director at Balenciaga that spotlighted this rather out-of-trend item with the label’s luxe leather Bazar Shopper tote followed by the famous leather version of blue Ikea bag.
I like to think I stumbled on it all on my own! Anyhow this FW18 there were plenty of totes about on the runways. Sometimes they were folded and worn like a clutch, like Chanel’s gorgeous new 31 bag or Coach 1941’s luxurious brown leather Hold-All’s with mini bags attached which were presented in New York.
Bags can also be a great way to make a statement as we saw across fashion month this season. Who could forget Dolce and Gabbana’s handbag statement, with the new season’s teeny tiny It bags flying down the runway in Milan, carried by not models, but drones.
Ball bags – and quirkily shaped bags in general – were big in London as well with Preen by Thornton Bregazzi’s double ball piece.
