Jewellery trends shift and change with the season too. And fashion week is always THE place to go for what’s hot on the scene.
According to the bling on the runways in Milan, New York, London and Paris for FW19, it’s all about statement earrings, chunky gold and pretty pearls this season.
Bold, attention-seeking earrings aren't going anywhere this FW, with flashy statement pieces drawing the eye in a variety of colours, shapes and styles. Oversized hoops were a popular look, as seen at Jonathan Simkhai in doubled-up silver and at Preen by Thornton Bregazzi, in shoulder-grazing embellished gold.
Single and mismatched earrings were also a trend du jour. Roksanda delivered art nouveau creations hanging from one ear only and embellished with pearls and feathers. Roberta Einer also embraced the look, with single tropical flower and foliage pieces .
Chunky bold gold was everywhere, from maxi gold link chains hung choker style at JW Anderson, Adeam and The Blondes, or delicate yet statement gold chains at Zimmerman and Oscar de la Renta, to oversized gold ball bracelets and earrings at Carolina Herrera and brushed gold egg-shaped pendants at Victoria Beckham.
Gucci went all out with statement single gold ear moulds embellished with gems and regal plated gold neck pieces.
The pearl saw a return to favour this season, gracing necks, ears and wrists across the board. Prabal Gurung used hundreds of pearls of different sizes to adorn ornate nipple-grazing statement earrings and delicate ear cuffs. Y/Project , Adeam and Paul Costelloe mixed traditionally sophisticated round pearls with chunky or modern gold elements on rings, hooped earrings and necklaces to create a more contemporary elegance.
Simone Rocha paired pearl earrings, simple drop pearls and hair clips with trench coats and pearl embellished dresses and Christian Dior added pearl accents to bring out a touch of feminine to some otherwise pretty punk rocker looks.
