It’s that time of the year when one starts sales hunting for discounted pieces that will fit in with our autumn and winter wardrobes. Of course the sales won’t stock next season’s clothing trends, but you can pick up accessories that work for the upcoming period.
One accessory which will be huge for AW19 is the belt, with waist cinching the top comeback trend, often worn with a strong broad-shouldered silhouette.
Wear a waist cinching belt over a blazer for a hot Autumn look like Michael Kors’ thin belts layered over bulky blazers. Balmain and Sacai did big waist cinching belts, while JW Anderson also went big with bold wide belts over sweater-dresses.
Metal and chain belts are also something to look out for in those sales. Replicate Alexander McQueen’s bulky, dark chain looks, or the multiple layer chain belts at Marni in delicate silver. In fact you can’t go wrong with multi-layer chains, and for that extra pop, look for chains with rows of gold coins as seen at Gabriela Hearst and emerging talent Tolu Coker .Gold belts are also cool, as seen at Marine Serre studded with pendants.
Keep an eye out for WHITE belts I think any style I particularly liked the one in Paris at Liu Chao’s,
I must say I already have managed to get a couple at some vintage sales in Madrid and will be wearing them cinching in a light autumn dress, or with jeans for a casual winter look.
And don’t be afraid of a bold buckle, like the cute heart shaped buckles that are set to trend this year. Or the the two leather belts worn wrapped over each other on an evening dress like at Roberta Einer.. FABULOUS
