Vivi Zubedi came onto my radar last year when she participated in her first fashion show at New York Fashion Week (NYFW) with IMG. Her collection became a spotlight, not only becuase it showcased MODEST FASHION but also Indonesian weavers and fabric artisans in the area of South Kalimantan.
Her collection for FW18 was called Urang Banua (Banjar people) and played with sportswear elements like baseball caps emellished with pins over the traditional hijabs and polka dots, velvets on traditional abbayas. There were trims on pockets that reminded me of Chanel jackets . My favourite pieces though had to be the velvet sweats, and the mysterious veils which reminded me of the Spanish Mantilla. I really look forward to seeing more from her as I love the way she mixes traditonal artesanal prints within her designs.
Vivi Zubedi also showcased her collection at LMFW this year that took place In London and her collection is available to buy at Hijup.com

My school uniforms always seemed to be made of gingham for one, so that’s one reason it always sends me running for cover. To add further insult to injury, gingham always seemed to portray angelic ‘good girl’ vibes which really didn't really fit with my younger self at all, it still DOESN'T !Read More
By naming his Autumn Winter 2017 collection Revolution, Berlin designer Marcel Ostertag set the expectations high at his third runway collection at New York Fashion Week, and I for one, was looking forward to seeing what revolutionary looks he had created. After all this is a designer that has been accused of being over the top. The show had Emma Watson’s UN Women’s “He For She” speech playing over the music.Read More
