Fashion is undergoing one of the biggest shifts it has ever faced, as growing audiences become increasingly concerned with the social and environmental impact that the industry has. Spring is here and you can smell summer - so let’s look at TRENDS
One of those key trends is the saturation of beige taking over our summer looks. The best way to wear the colour of the season is head-to-toe, jazzed up with funky jewellery or for me a pair of Gucci wrap around sun glasses and colourful trainers.
Designers rocking the 50 shades of beige include Max Mara, Burberry, Tom Ford, Salvatore Ferragamo and Christian Dior.
I adore the beige jumpsuits by Stella McCartney, inspired by her mother's vintage outfits and in keeping with the SS19 trend for utilitarian-style pieces. Don’t fancy beige –rusty reds, warm oranges and terracotta shades are also on-trend as seen at Versace and Balenciaga.
Tie-dye is returning to favour for SS19, but with a distinctly modern upgrade. Dior created kaleidoscopic floaty dresses and skirt-jacket combos, sometimes layered with florals. MSGM, Prabal Gurung and R13 all opted for vibrant rainbow colours.
And then there is all the neoprene. It seems that everyone is jumping on the neoprene bandwagon this season, I guess it started with Raf Simons last collection for Calvin Klein that I adored & who lead the pack with his Jaws inspired collection featuring unpeeled wetsuit skirts. ETRO SS19 collection is surfing inspired and Marine Serre transformed upcycled neoprene wetsuits into statement-making gowns totally total lust .
Lace, patchwork, crochet, macramé and even rope with 70’s artisanal folk elements are big this season check out Ports 1961 dresses they’re so cool .
The 80s exploded on the trend scene with a slew of sequins, neon, bold shoulders a must and a current favourite has to be Fyodor Golan and although I am not a great fan of acid washed denim which is huge this season.I really liked Proenza Schouler gorgeous cowgirl-esque dresses and neckerchiefs . And if you’re still not t converted check out Isabel Marant Off-White, Balmain, MiSSONI and Dior and then get back to me
There is an undeniable magic and fantasy about Haute Couture which makes it stand far out from the usual fashion crowds. However, I always like to look at how the trends that sway the high-fashion scene, infiltrate and influence the rest of the industry, including Ready-to-Wear and swimwear.Read More
At OAMC my personal favourite this season has to be the knitwear, the feeling of lightness achieved and the way the techniques utilized in the yarn create mini erruptions and volume. Compression the key theme of the collection can be seen in the tightened hem of sleeves highlighted in a different colour.Read More
