It's time for me to rant a little tribute to Colin, the designer and the man about the label that bears his name.
I met Colin about four years ago at a show. He was selling Unidot sunglasses designed by Eco fashion designer, Cyrus Wong. A carpenter by trade and extensively travelled in Asia, an accident made him realise that the time for sky hopping as a carpenter on building sites would be limited. Colin needed an alternative income.
Four years on, although still on sites, he runs Colin Leslie Eyewear - a very successful company with own brand eyewear and high street stockists in the Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland,Vietnam, America and Australia.
With a true passion for his brand, he has created the beginnings of a celebrity following: Olly Murs, Trent Garrett, Ellen Hollman as well as models at LFW 2012 where he participated in the Good Fashion Show.
All Colin Leslie Eyewear has an element of bamboo, which is especially grown on plantations in Asia just for the use of production meaning that no wild bamboo is used, so protecting the environment and reducing the carbon footprint, and his new Eco Unit.T range goes further still. All handmade individually, the range is as close to a 100% Eco that a pair of glasses can get. It features production from recycled acetate frames and eyewear pouches made from recycled drinking bottles, which are soft enough to clean lenses. The sunglasses in the range are UV400 rated with matching gradient lenses to suit frames.
So, I raise my glasses to you, Colin...not bad for four years! WOW...
