20120422-182358.jpg While waiting for her new worksop in Casco Viejo to come online, Gisela works from her flat in San Fernando in Panama City. Originally from Bocas (North Panama), where she still runs a sucessful boutique, she is the perfect designer to entrust a vintage transformation to. Although remodelling is not her first love, she is completely fascinated by the construction of yesteryear - the stitching, materials, patterns and the homemade element. Her own label, Gi Arqueta, which up to now has been exclusively made to measure, is due to relaunch for summer 2013 later on in September. Pressing her for the inspiration behind her new collection she mentioned a lot of investigation into sea themes, and the colour of corals. Can't wait! But, back to my 50's black and gold lurex dress in desperate need of a transformation. The slashed collar does me no favours and the length of the sleeves & skirt are all wrong, BUT I am mad about the material and it was my best present from Alex so def not a resale. A few days earlier Gisela had got me to try the dress and quizzed me on my likes and dislikes so I was completely bowled over to get a sweet drawing of the dress for my approval. Amidst a lot of cheeky chat we did another fitting and four days later, low and behold, I got the dress just in time for a major show-off at a dinner date at The Chesa with Mr. P and the boys, an ex-model and a marketing guru - SO PERFECT! Gisela has even taken on board the design of a vintage inspired dress for me from a very special piece of material - my mothers wedding dress!
