I am crazy about lighting and totally agree with the festival director of Clerkenwell Design Week, Daren Newton when he says:

“Light is a key element in any space; it can be used to create mood, define space and highlight features. Furthermore, lighting designs are usually the frontrunners of aesthetic trends; their smaller components are faster to develop, manufacture and ship so there is enormous pace and variety.”

With the entire third floor of the Farmiloe Building in London's Clerkenwell dedicated to lighting brands, can you miss the CDW (Clerkenwell Design Week) this year?

Now in its 4th year, the festival is running from the 21st through to the 23rd of May and is housed in the unique variety buildings that have been home to craft workshops, printers, clockmakers and jewellers since the Industrial Revolution.

Ok, so maybe the area has changed somewhat, book binding still takes place and although central studio and workshop spaces are at a premium, the new inhabitants are still of a similar field including architectural, design and creative practices. In fact, there are 60 design showrooms in Clerkenwell including Vitra, Poltrona Frau, Flos and Moroso.

...AND THEN there was light!
