Walk through the doors of Senses Hotel in Sofia and the stunning property’s ‘Design Hotels’ credentials are immediately screamingly obvious.
The lobby is dark, moody and seductive, with contemporary art hanging from the ceiling and lining the walls. Boasting all the necessary facilities including Wi-Fi, the rooms are light, spacious and minimalist – perfect for a woman like me, travelling and working with a suitcase full of clothes and shoes. The gorgeous big white marble bathrooms make you want to luxuriate in a hot bath or enjoy the huge mirrors – excellent for makeup application! Although the Sense Spa is a tempting haven of extremely well-designed indulgence, what I was really interested in was the fabulous roof bar with almost 360 views across the city. This is where the beautiful people of Sofia come out to play and on any given night you’ll find the glamorous fashion set sipping perfectly executed cocktails.
The hotel also has a Mediterranean fusion restaurant which I guarantee will delight the senses, but it is the property’s devotion to modern design, luxury and sophisticated comfort that really elevated my stay to the exquisite. Sofia’s first upscale design hotel – Sense Hotegl is the ONLY place to stay in the Bulgarian capital.
