Although travelling is my thing, I find it really hard when asked, what is my favourite destination? Of course it is definitely easier to think of what are my favourite choices for a particular season! So with that in mind here are my Christmas choices !
Berlin: With its festive Christmas markets and copious amounts of Glühwein to warm your hands and your belly with, Berlin makes a very atmospheric – if chilly – winter destination for travellers looking to get into the Christmas spirit.
Porto: Built on the hills above the Douro river estuary, Porto is charmingly beautiful and a perfect city to stroll through in the bright winter sunshine. Full of boutique shops, vintage and amazing well priced restaurants, Porto is a perfect urban city break for Christmas shopping and eating.
London: London needs no introduction, the city is one of the best in Europe for shopping and entertainment and with a plethora of atmospheric Christmas fairs, markets and winter wonderlands, it makes for a brilliant festive winter holiday.
Shanghai: Not everyone loves Christmas, so to get away from the festive overload, head to trendy, vibrant Shanghai, where the atmosphere is exotically frantic and far removed from our western festivities.
Prague: Easily one of the most photogenic cities in the world, Prague becomes a sparkling icy fairy tale destination in the winter months. Wrap up warm because Prague’s temperatures drop below zero in December and January.
Panama: The high season in the South American country of Panama starts in mid-December, making it an excellent choice for a Winter break infused with tropical sunshine, stunning beaches and a host of fabulous shopping and dining options.
