With only one night to spend in Madrid, I wanted to be tucked away somewhere in the centre; and of course,I always have a double agenda, which is to be in close proximity to Velarde Street and it's vintage boutiques where I can window shop for shoes for hours. For foodies, this area also just happens to be a tapas heaven!
Hotel Roommate Oscar is a boutique hotel on Plaza Zerolo. Designed by Tomas Alía, it is chic and modern, and has extremely happy and helpful staff – even at 5am (My highly anti-social departure time – Thank you smiley Marta!).
The 7th floor houses the achingly cool Oscar’s bar, where award-winning mixologists rock the poolterrace with their creative cocktail concoctions – the epitome of Madrid’s hipster scene.
The hotel is also home to the SUITE, with its wrap-around private, terraced mega space of 54m2 . It's also possibly more than fully-equipped with every possible high-tech and high-end fantasy.
The bathroom not only has a divine stand-alone bath but a shower room whose door opens onto the terrace; the bedroom has a king size bed in the centre of the room, a curved lounging sofa, Wi-Fi anda huge flat screen TV.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t staying in the SUITE – I wish. I did stay in the deluxe room which was large, spotless and pretty glam decked out in the same gorgeous green colour as my baby zastava 750.
My Top 5
1. Loads of sockets waist level (for my massive amount of equipment to be charged)
2. Excellent bed linen and pillows
3. Bathroom toiletries perfect size and easy squeeze
4. Free welcome water and complimentary tea and coffee
5. Reasonable Wi-Fi that was a dream to access!
6. Luggage rack
7. Bazaar magazine absolute magazine for bed time reading.
